About Dental Implants
For a lasting and attractive substitute for lost teeth, advanced dental technology at DentalWorks - Hickory in Hickory, NC by our dentists use dental implants to repair and bring back a gorgeous, fully-functioning mouth. Dental implants surgically insert titanium posts in the jaw to substitute for the weakened root, so false teeth can be joined for a dependable fit that will not involve adhesives or food restrictions. The false teeth will be shaded and shaped by our dentists to blend with the patient's teeth for a natural finish. For individuals who are wanting to restore a single tooth or many teeth, dental implants at DentalWorks - Hickory can be an ideal, effective option.

"Exelent...."- C.O. / Google / May 19, 2018
"Everyone was knowledgeable and friendly... including the dentist. Rare, huh? I only had 2 concerns. My appointment was messed up in the computer; they got that fixed. I made a cleaning appointment. Thru conversation, I learned that the cleaning may not be covered under insurance depending on which type I will need. They said it would be unethical for them to let me choose the cleaning that my insurance will pay for. They have their policy and I have mine. I'm not getting a cleaning that insurance won't pay for. Still. So far, I like this place. I didn't even get the name of the dentist ."- J.I. / Google / May 19, 2018
"I have a fear of dentists, traumatized as a child. I have not been to a dentist in over 20 years, but the pain was so bad I had to go. I choose dental works after reading online how good they were and that you could be sedated. Sadly I found out they couldn't sedate me. But, Wendy was amazing as was Dr Spurgas, they we so good about me being scared and emotional. I had to have a tooth pulled and they made me feel safe and calm, the doctor even kept reminding me to breath. I would recommend this place to everyone, amazing people..God bless them."- S.M. / Google / May 18, 2018
What to Expect
Before a dental implant is used, a in-depth oral exam will be completed by our dentists to decide the strength and health of the jawbone and gums. If the person is a suitable candidate for dental implants, dental X-rays and molds will allow our dentists to plan the ideal location for the dental implants in the jawbone. The individual can be put under local anesthesia and/or local sedation to minimize discomfort while our dentists implant the titanium post into the tooth socket. During the next 3 - 6 months, the implant and bone will fuse together while the bone heals and after the dental implant is strong enough, the false tooth or teeth can be added to the dental implant by a connector. Our dentists can tweak the dental implant and false teeth for a snug and confident fit.
Generally, patients experience minor or no discomfort following their dental implants, however a handful of patients may feel short-term discomfort and soreness that should be helped using an over-the-counter pain killer, such as Tylenol® or aspirin. To lengthen the wear of dental implants, patients should develop a good home dental care practice that includes flossing, brushing, and mouthwash. Bi-annual appointments at DentalWorks - Hickory in Hickory, NC for dental cleanings and exams are also crucial to dental implant care. Dental implants will last many years with correct care, however dental implants will eventually require repairs or replacement.
If dental implants are determined to be necessary for health, the patient's dental insurance company may pay for at least part of the expenses. But, elective dental implants are typically generally not paid by insurance plans. At the time of the patient's initial consultation, the office manager of DentalWorks - Hickory can determine their insurance coverage and talk about payment methods and financing available through our office.
